The Arbor Centre deliver numerous projects that help in preserving Western Australia’s significant trees, and as such, we recently assisted in the relocation of a collection of mature Claret Ash Trees. These trees would be otherwise lost due to the widening of Albany Highway.

Relocating the trees

As part of the METRONET rail extensions, a section of Albany Highway needs to be widened to accommodate increased traffic. This would result in a collection of mature Claret Ash Trees being lost due to the upgrade works.

METRONET is Australia’s multi-government agency that is leading the way for extensions to the rail network of Western Australia. As a part of this, the construction of many new structures have required trees to be moved for their overall health and preservation. The Arbor Centre has played a key part of working with METRONET to protect Western Australia’s precious trees.

The Arbor Centre has been successfully relocating invaluable trees for over thirty years. In collaboration with the City of Armadale, we were awarded the contract to relocate the trees to a local park, where they will continue to provide a positive source of enjoyment and shade for the community, as well as to the adjacent playground and surrounding area.

The Arbor Centre’s role in looking after Perth’s trees

The Arbor Centre provide arboriculture expertise to many local governments, commercial businesses, and residential clients across WA. Part of our role is helping local governments to conserve valuable and old trees. We care about the trees we look after and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to our work. We do the right things for trees, communities, and organisations.

Our culture is also built of innovation as well as care. For example, we have created a variety of valuable solutions such as Fortress5, an integrated service which protects infrastructure from tree root growth, while also protecting the tree. As Australia’s leading tree care specialists, we believe in setting the standards for tree maintenance and transplanting across both Western Australia and Australia overall.

The METRONET project forms only one part of the Arbor Centre’s work. You can find out more about our projects here or contact us here with any enquiries.
